Oh the Places You Will Go

Like many kids, when I graduated high school, I had a party. Lots of people came over as I celebrated stepping out into a new world filled with endless possibilities. That was almost 10 years ago. One of the gifts I received that day was a version of the famous Dr. Seuss book, "Oh the Places You'll Go!" It's a whimsical tale of adventure and exploration - a perfect book for someone starting a new season.

As I enter into my 6th week of this new season - just a handful of weeks away from the end of my "year of travel", I've actually started thinking about how I can achieve this lofty goal I pretended to set for myself a while ago. 30 countries by 30. I've got 2 years left on the count and I actually think I might make this a real goal. The rules are that I actually to be in the country for more than 5 hours and airports do not count.

Let's start with where I've been:

  • Jamaica
  • Bermuda
  • Cayman Islands
  • Dominican Republic
  • Mexico
  • Colombia
  • Argentina
  • Canada
  • England
  • Ireland
  • Germany
  • France
  • Italy
  • Ethiopia
  • Liberia
I'm halfway there. Now let's talk about where I want to go. And "want" is actually defined by me thinking about why I want to go there - it's entered my mind more than one time.
  • Honduras
  • Guatemala
  • Belize
  • Brazil
  • Malta
  • Greece
  • New Zealand
  • Spain
  • Rwanda
  • Cuba
  • Barbados
  • Portugal
  • Wales
  • South Africa
  • Nicaragua
  • India
  • Haiti
Wonder if I can do it...where do you want to go?
