Deuteronomy 33:12-"Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders."
I don't know about you, but I love that verse. Its so funny...I never spend a ton of time in the Old Testament. I know I should, but a lot of my study brings me to the gospels or Paul's letters. However, thanks to be to God for pressing me to look up the history of one such verse...and I found that one.
My name, Amy, means "Beloved". I think that's why this verse touches me. I am secure in His arms. Additionally, God has provided for me in such unexpected ways in fellowship. In the midst of my struggles and battles (i.e. LIFE), He has been faithful to provide loving and encouraging people to build me up.
So what? Well, I want to encourage all who read this...look for His ways of loving you. I find it so wonderful and so LIKE God to know the innermost nooks and crannies of our hearts. He knows exactly HOW to love you and exactly WHEN to love on you. I know this isn't the most profound thing in the world and many other people have come to this realization in the past. However, for the first time quite a while the 1 Corinthians 13 passage of love came to life for me. Jesus fulfilled EVERY SINGLE aspect listed...patience, kindness, trustworthiness, keeping no records of wrongs ad infinitum. Its beautiful. Makes me want to love like that...and I think its wonderful that the only place we can truly learn to love like that is when we are on our knees, resting our head on the shoulders (the Word) of our King. For it is IN Him and THROUGH His mighty hand we are capable of serving others...selflessly and unabashedly.
Know you are loved...and rest.
